Hey guys! Over Labor Day Weekend I had a Sunday Funday and made my way to Downtown LA and visited the Arts District. I have been incredibly busy with school and work that it was nice to get out and have some me time! Plus I love looking at art, it’s so fascinating to see what artists have created!
According to the website, the Arts District is home to the Sixth Street Viaduct, Joel Bloom Square, 3rd & Traction, the Factory Place complex! Most of the galleries and museums were closed due to COVID-19, so I drove around in my car and snapped photos of the different murals. It was 103 degrees outside!
I also stopped at the Arts District Brewing Company and ordered myself a cheeseburger and a lager ($23). It was very refreshing and the burger was delicious!
My final stop of the day was at the Madcap Motel ($40), an immersive art experience set in the 1960s where the lines are blurred between what is real and what is fake. It takes about 45 minutes to get through with different pathways and rooms to enter. I took some photos below and you can also visit my Instagram page under the “DTLA” section for more videos (I have more videos than photos of where I enter the rooms)! I am not sure how long this exhibition is in place for, but it is definitely worth checking out, it’s silly fun!
Another thing I want to add is I did have to pay for parking twice at the Arts District Brewing Company and Madcap Motel, it can range from $10 – $20 depending on how long you stay!
If you have visited the Arts District, let me know your favorite spots! 🙂
