On New Year’s Day, I was able to experience my first Rose Parade in Pasadena! This was the 133rd parade the Tournament of Roses and the City of Pasadena has hosted and was the perfect way to kick off 2022 with equestrian units, bands from around the U.S. and of course, many floats!

The theme this year was “Dream. Believe. Achieve.” and the Grand Marshal was LeVar Burton from the children’s television show “Reading Rainbow.” There are thousands of gorgeous, fresh roses in individual water vials and each float costs between $50,000 – $100,000 to design! I actually met a woman and her husband who came from Florida to decorate one of the floats, they said it was a fun and amazing experience!

The parade lasts 4 hours (it’s technically 2 hours from where you are positioned on the route. For me, I was near the beginning since I live downtown) and is a 5 1/2 mile route that mostly runs along Colorado Blvd (the main street in the city) and turns left to head north toward Sierra Madre.I tried to take as many photos as I could for you to enjoy!

Enjoy! 🙂
