VROOOM! This was my first time at the LA Auto Show at the Convention Center Downtown and I was very impressed! I saw so many past and futuristic vehicles and concepts!
I was able to not only talk to some sales reps and sit in the car/see the features, but I also got to test drive a Hyundai Kona EV indoors and be a passenger on the Jeep Wrangler and Volkswagen ID.4 short track courses outside. All I can tell you is the Jeep course is one you do not want to miss out on, I had so much fun! I also took a video of the Ford course indoors but the line was super long and I didn’t have time to test drive one.
You can check out the track course videos from inside the Wrangler and ID vehicles on my Instagram page under “DTLA!”
Time for a new car…or should I say SUV
The biggest reason I wanted to visit the show was because I am considering buying a small/mid-size SUV in the next year or two. As I type this, my 2014 Chevy Malibu has 96,500 miles and it will be 8-years-old in February. Technically, it should be at that mileage for its age and because of COVID-19 and working remote permanently, I haven’t been driving it as much (my baby below decked out for the holidays, LOL! This is the only picture I could find of it!). I have kept it in tip-top condition and it still runs very well!
The problem is that my car may have until 120,000 miles, which really isn’t that far off. I also am sick and tired of going “down” into a sedan when I was to go “up” into an SUV. I really started to enjoy driving SUVs while traveling and I always enjoy renting different makes/models. Also, you can get a higher value for trading in your used car than you ever could in years past, so I want to take full advantage of this while I can!
SUVs in the running
Right now I am considering a Jeep Renegade, Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson (these first three are my top choices), Acura RDX (this is a long shot that most likely won’t happen, but it is in the running) and Nissan Rogue (also am not highly considering this due to the ongoing CVT Transmission problems and lawsuits I have read about). I love them all for comfort, style, price and safety reasons, but I really can’t say much more until I go to the dealerships and test drive them on the freeway. These models were also not available for a test drive on the short track courses. I am also torn between a gas versus EV type of SUV.
I will keep you all in the loop on what happens next year. Until then, enjoy the remaining photos I took from the show below! Also, if you ever have a chance to go to an auto show, I highly suggest it, you will learn so much and have a blast! 🙂
